Jawahar Kala Kendra is the cultural hub of Jaipur.
A much-loved building designed by noted Architect Charles Correa, Jawahar kala Kendra or JKK as it is known, is always alive with cultural performances, exhibitions, plays and shows, many of them are world class. It also has an adjoining space where most days you can find genuine, reasonable handicrafts for sale by artisans themselves. JKK also has a couple of very nice café.
It is a great place to spend an evening. A visit to JKK can NOW be made BETTER by a short, hour long guided tour of the building that will explain the beauty and detailed reasoning that went into the design of this unique building. The building design is based on the original design of Jaipur walled city and the décor is inspired by astonomy, a field that the founder king of Jaipur, Jaising 2nd was a scholar of! It deserves to be seen and understood.
